Lantern Room Face Closeup2662 viewsJust before dusk on Saturday September 19, 2009, my wife Kathy and I visited the Point Lookout Lighthouse for the Lighthouse Challenge. We were late getting to Point Lookout. In fact, we were the last ones to sign the log for that day. I climbed the stairs to the upper part of the lighthouse and took some pictures while my wife waited on a bench outside the lighthouse. I was the only person above the ground level floor at that point. I then climbed through the entrance to the cupola and was taking more pictures. In both pictures, a man's face is clearly distinguishable. The image appears to have some sort of facial hair and glasses or goggles (or some something on his eyes.) I was not wearing glasses. The image is definitely not my reflection. My family has taken an interest in the pictures and we did some research on the internet. We thought there is a possibility that the image could be that of William Yeatman, a lighthouse keeper who died at the light house after serving 37 years as keeper.

Jacobson Descendants Visit the Lighthouse516 viewsJudy and Jenny are descendants of keeper Thomas Jacobson, who served as keeper of Point Lookout Lighthouse from May 1, 1912 until August 30, 1917. Judy is Mr. Jacobson's great granddaughter; Jenny is his great-great granddaughter, and Judy's daughter. Lighthouse historian Robert Hall took the family on a tour of the lighthouse, pointing out the differences between how the structure looked during Mr. Jacobson's five year tenure and the way that it looks today. Exterior of Lighthouse, Looking South1006 viewsThis photograph is a rare find and shows the lighthouse in 1927, just 2 years before the 1927 remodel. The photos are part of a larger photo album documenting a 1925 trip to southern Maryland by Julia Dent Best and Alfred Sellman Best. Julia Best was a 1919 graduate of what was then called St. Mary's Female Seminary. The album was donated to St. Mary’s College of Maryland Archives by Julia Best's great-niece, Virginia Arndt, of Solomons.Mar 29, 2012
